It's time for the annual Cyclops Christmas Carol, this year sung to the melody of "Away in a Manger."

Up here in Davis County, we value our youth,

We're church-going people, upstanding and couth

We won't let Sierra Club diminish our view

That highways are part of the environment too.

Up here in Davis County, we're mostly Caucasian

We root with the red states and are proud of our nation,

We never met a Republican we didn't like,

We even elected one who can't read or write.

Up here in Davis County, there are some who cry

That children would be safer if restaurants were dry

They asked a city council to deny El Matador

The right to serve tacos along with a Coors.

Up here in Davis County, some are perplexed

About cost overruns on the recreation complex.

The anti-tax watchdogs claim the officials were fools

But Tom Hardy stood firm there should be water in the pool.

Up here in Davis County, several mayors got the boot

A small minority voted, the rest didn't give a hoot.

But if the Davis County commission raises our taxes

We'll search for Dan McConkie and gather our axes.

Up here in Davis county, we're suspicious of the "U,"

We get into mourning when it beats BYU

But we're very inclusive at this time of year,

We'll even wish Rocky some holiday cheer.

Merry Christmas!
