LAYTON -- Residents of and visitors to Davis County have a new resource for the information they need to enjoy the county's attractions. The Davis Chamber of Commerce and the Davis Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) have put out this year's Davis Visitors/ Business Guide, printed by Carr Printing. The guide includes information on popular area attractions such as Lagoon and Antelope Island and details on less well known aspects of the county, such as trails and art galleries. Special events and functions at area attractions are listed on a calendar of events.

Two-page spreads are devoted to golf courses in the county, a map of the area and meeting rooms and lodging.

The business section of the guide includes statistics, business listings and city information. The businesses listed are ones that are "committed to the community," said Chris Dallin of the Davis Chamber of Commerce.

"Shopping and business go hand in hand with tourism," said Dallin, which is why the Chamber of Commerce and the CVB decided to publish the guide together.

An initial run of 50,000 guides has been printed, and they will be distributed throughout the state in visitors centers as well as being available throughout the county.

The guide will also be available through the CVB Web site. The 2006 calendar of events is already up as part of that Web site, www.davisareacvb.com.

No tax funds were used to print the guide, noted Barbara Riddle, CVB executive director.
