WEST BOUNTIFUL -- Gateway 8 Cinema in West Bountiful served donuts to "Simpsons Movie" goers last Thursday at the midnight opening of the box office show.

Sheri Howard, general manager, welcomed crowds of teenagers and young adults with free pink donuts, movie posters as well as raffling off prizes in honor of the new movie.

"People have been surprised to come to the theater and be getting free donuts," Howard said.

Howard and the other employees at Gateway 8 like to do promotions for the bigger blockbuster movies because it helps the customer enhance their movie-going experience by having a good time.

"When people have a good time they will want to come back," Howard said.

Despite the rainy weather Thursday night, devoted "Simpsons" fans flocked to theaters for the first screening of the new movie. According to Howard ticket sales for the late-night showing were slow, but picked up quickly as the starting time approached.

Excitement for the popular TV-series-turned-movie brought many people out. The numbers for the midnight showing of Simpson was considerably less than for Harry Potter, but Howard was pleased at the turnout.
