FARMINGTON -- There will be three open council seats for which voters can cast their ballots in the upcoming municipal elections.

The term of office is for four years, and incumbent council members Rick Dutson, Larry Haugen and Sid Young will be finishing their terms of office at the end of the year.

To qualify as a candidate one must be a resident of Farmington for at least 12 months immediately preceding the date of election, a registered voter at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen at the time of filing.

In order to run for office, a "Declaration of Candidacy" must be filed with the Farmington city recorder at 130 N. Main St. The filing period is July 1-16 at 5 p.m.

The Declaration of Candidacy form is available at the recorder's office or the Farmington city Web site at www.farmington.utah.gov. For more information contact Margy Lomax at 939-9205 or mlomax@farmington.utah.gov.
