NORTH SALT LAKE -- Kendra was released from the hospital last Friday, but after Maliyah came down with an dialysis catheter infection Saturday she took her turn at Primary Children's Hospital. The Herrin twins both spent time in the hospital due to infections over the weekend but their condition had improved as of press time on Monday.

"They're doing great," said Pat Herrin, grandmother to the twins. She said they were at the hospital Monday for testing and to dress their wounds, but had recovered from the infections. Hospital Public Relations Officer Bonnie Midget said setbacks are expected, but twins' recovery is going well overall. Meanwhile, father Jake Herrin said on the family Web site that it's been a crazy week.

"Kendra came home yesterday [Friday]. She's doing really well," he said. "We found out this morning [Saturday] that Maliyah had an infection in her dialysis catheter, so we had to take her to the ER to get IV antibiotics. Then after about five hours we got to go home.

"Then Kendra's IV went bad so we had to take her back to the hospital so they could place a new one."

Monday, however, was more relaxed. "It was nice to have one day to not have anything going on and to just be a family," said Jake. "We are starting to get a routine and it's starting to feel not so overwhelming anymore."
