"We are still taking entries for trees to be decorated and donated. That can be done through October," Card said. As an example of community support, she noted that last year an interior decorator who happened to be at the Conference Center purchased five trees.
A billboard announcing the event should be strategically placed on I-15 and the 4th North Bountiful exit within a week or so, Card said. Families, businesses, civic or church groups are welcome to participate.
Meanwhile, a Domestic Violence Awareness Fair is set for Saturday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Ream's parking lot, 1040 N. Main Street in Layton. Raffle tickets will be sold by a variety of agencies set up to assist those with related problems and concerns, Card said. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.
The Davis County At-torney's Office, Head Start, Hill Air Force Base, Bikers Against Child Abuse, the United Way, and the Layton City Advocate Program will be among those agencies represented. There will be refreshments, a jumping toy for kids, and other activities.
Also that day, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in Layton at the Fairfield Layton Marriott, 1740 N. Heritage Park Blvd., the Mary Kay Ash Foun-dation will provide make-overs for women and their daughters as a fund-raiser to support Safe Harbor. Cost is $15 and includes facials, nails, hair styling and makeup. This third annual event is held as a way to raise awareness of domestic violence, Card said.
Half of the proceeds go to Safe Harbor with no product promotion allowed, she said. Appointments or donations can be made by calling 444-3191.
Also as part of October's Domestic Violence Aware-ness Month, Safe Harbor will host a booth at United Way's Make a Difference Day Saturday, Oct. 22, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Layton Hills Mall.
