Editor,

I just recently learned that the Lamplight Gallery in Bountiful will be closing in mid-June. It is so sad to see a landmark in the community close its doors after four years. It brought accomplished and sensitive art to everyone, offered classes for those who wanted to learn and a meeting place for anyone who loved art. It was not a profit-based institution from the very start. Its mission was to share and enhance art. As a student there, I really appreciated the opportunity to develop creatively in a supportive atmosphere.

My understanding is that their location is no longer available.

I think that continuing to have art in the community is very important.

The Lamplight Gallery is very committed to holding this vision together and we as a community should assist however we can.

Those who have ideas or can offer support in any way should call the Lamplight Gallery at 298-0290.

If we don't rally around for support, we may lose this important asset to our community.
