That's it. Over. Done with. Another year of prep sports is in the books. And, as always, it was another stellar year for Davis County. In the fall, Viewmont won volleyball and wrestl-ing titles, and Davis won the 5-A state football championship. In the winter, the Layton girls basketball team won it all. Congratulations to all who won state titles this year in Davis County. So now that summer is here, what is there? At a paper like the Clipper, with only one full-time sports person, keeping up with seven different high schools and a variety of different sports can be a challenge, to say the least.

From mid-August to the end of May, the action never stops. In fact, we can barely keep up with it.

In the summer months, however, things can be as dry as Death Valley in the middle of July.

Davis County really doesn't offer much outside of prep sports. Or does it?

Here's your chance to weigh in, and perhaps gain a little notoriety in the process.

There are people and events in the community, interesting ones, that we don't know about here at the Clipper.

Contrary to popular belief, we don't read minds, and unless someone fills us in on an upcoming event it will go by unnoticed.

So, if you have an event that you feel needs coverage this summer, call or e-mail us, and we'll see what we can do.

Additionally, if you or someone you know has a special talent, athletic ability or skill, let us know and maybe we can do a feature on them.

So just what are we looking for? Just about anything, as long as it relates to sports in some sort of way.

And it has to be something that readers would find interesting.

So no, your annual naked croquet tournament wouldn't be of interest, nor would your home-made backyard ski jump made of Parmesan cheese.

Actually, on second thought, that would be interesting.

But we are pretty lenient. It doesn't have to involve basketball, football, baseball or hockey. Sure, it can be any of those, but it can also be runners, tennis players, bowlers, lacrosse, billiards, cricket and just about anything else that's considered a sport or "fringe" sport.

In other words, we're looking for you, those you know and interesting, unusual, touching or heart-warming stories.

If you have a story idea, email rriggs@davisclipper.

com, and I promise we'll give it a good look. I can't promise a story will be done, but we'll certainly take a good, hard look at it.

Unless it's something about a Parmesan cheese ski jump, and in that case, we'll find room.

Or, your grandfather is a national tetherball champion, but must wear women's clothing to compete.

Or maybe your neighbor thinks his pet goldfish looks like Tommy Lasorda.

You get the idea.

Just give us a call.
