KAYSVILLE -- The Cat in the Hat made a special appearance, Saturday, March 19, as F.I.S.H. (Fathers Involved Shaping Head Start children) sponsored its annual Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast for Head Start dads, grandpas, other father-figures and their children. More than 70 dads and kids enjoyed a delicious breakfast and storytime by none other than the Cat in the Hat, Davis School District Superintendent, Dr. Bryan Bowles. Children were thrilled to be able to interact with their very own Cat in the Hat.
The purpose of the FISH program is to involve Head Start fathers/father-figures in the lives of their kids; to help them become a player in their child's development.
Another objective of the program is to educate and encourage the dads to read to their kids for 20 minutes a day. Research has shown that a child who is read to early in life is a child who will succeed later in life.
The event was part of the larger district initiative, Davis Reads, and was held at the Family Enrichment Center, 320 S. 500 East, Kaysville.
