Proposed preliminary drawings for the Village on Main Street were recently shown to Bountiful city officials. The village, which will be a mixed-use building, is expected to have banks, businesses and restaurants on the lower level. The upper levels will include two separate housing areas. One part of the complex will include several apartments for all residents. The other apartments will be set aside as a senior residential community. The village will be built at the corner of Pages Lane and Main Street in Bountiful. Developers plan to raze the old JCPenney building that still stands on the site and build the village on top of the site. Final approval has not yet been given to begin building. City Engineer Aric Jensen said he hopes the village will bring more business back to Main Street. A start date has not yet been set, but construction is expected to take 18 months.
