LAYTON -- A Clearfield man's condition is im-proving after he slammed his motorcycle into a concrete barrier after eluding police on I-15 Saturday. Johnathon Wayne Wall, 22, led Utah Highway Patrol Troopers on a high speed chase though southern Weber County into Davis County, about 2 p.m. on Saturday. UHP Trooper Chris Sim-mons said a Weber County UHP trooper tried to stop the man and another motorcyclist, both riding bullet bikes. The other motorcyclist yielded to the officer, but Wall raced away. The trooper gave chase and initiated a pursuit. Near Layton Hills Mall, Wall reached speeds of 130 mph.

As Wall approached the S-curve, he moved from the slow lane to the fast lane, but didn't make the curve. The motorcycle hit the wall at about 130 mph. The man was thrown off his bike and came to rest in the fast lane. The motorcycle continued southbound for 1,000 feet before coming to a stop in a ditch.

Wall was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden in critical condition. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious head trauma. He has since been upgraded to serious condition.

Wall had a suspended driver's license and an outstanding warrant. The investigation is continuing to determine if drugs or alcohol were in-volved.

Traffic was stopped for about an hour while a medical helicopter airlifted the man to the hospital.
