The family of Anna Carver Olsen are holding an open house in celebration of Anna's 80th birthday which will be held Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, from 2-4 p.m. at Country Care II, 533 South 950 West, Farmington, Utah. (No gifts, please.
Anna, the fourth child of eight children, was born on Sept. 12, 1924, to John Alfred and LaVerne Olson Carver in Preston, Idaho. The Carvers raised their children in Boise, Idaho, where Anna graduated from Boise High and Boise Jr. College. In 1965, she completed her bachelor's degree at Brigham Young University and was an educator for 20 years in Idaho and Utah, teaching at J.A. Taylor Elementary, Farm-ington Elementary and Cen-terville Jr. High.
Anna married Lee Evan Olsen on April 28, 1944, in the Salt Lake Temple and they spent 20 years in Idaho and California before moving to Farmington in 1964 where they were both very active in the Farmington Lion's Club and the Farmington 1st Ward.
Anna and Lee served a mission to the Washington, D.C. Visitors Center from 1981-82; and from 1998-2000, Anna was a hostess at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building in Salt Lake City.
Lee passed away on Dec. 3, 1986. Recently, Anna has moved to the Country Care Assisted Living Home in Farmington.
She and Lee reared four children: Gary and Marilyn Reed, Bountiful; Richard and Mickie Olsen, Independence, Missouri; Richard and LeAnn Bushnell, Layton; and Rodney and Annette Olsen, Layton. Anna has 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
