Jessica Joiner has assumed the role held by Gary Vesta for the past four years.
She has held the deputy director position at the largest center, Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, Texas.
“I am excited to join the Clearfield center and look forward to getting involved in the community,” Joiner said.
“Working in the 12th ranked center and third largest campus in the nation is an incredible opportunity. It’s a credit to the students and staff as well as the strong support by our community partners,” she said.
There are 122 Job Corps centers nationwide, with the 12th ranking the highest in the facility’s 46-year history.
Joiner has worked in Job Corps for more than 15 years, holding the positions of recreation specialist, group life manager, outreach/admissions and career transitions manager, employability director and deputy center director at four other centers.
Centerville’s Management & Training Corporation operates the facility. It is a federal residential job-training program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor for young adults, ages 16 to 24.
Academic and technical training is provided, along with room, board, books, clothing and basic medical and dental needs. A team of placement counselors assists students in finding jobs upon training completion.
The Job Corps program reportedly generates $1.91 for every federal tax dollar involved.
