DAVIS COUNTY -- The Bountiful softball team suffered a heartbreaking 10-8 loss to Skyline Tuesday afternoon.

Bountiful led 8-1 after four innings, and 8-4 heading into the top of the seventh, but the Eagles scored six runs in their final at-bat to secure the victory.

The Braves committed five errors in the loss.

On Monday, Bountiful fell to the Layton Lancers 4-0. The Braves were no-hit by Lancer pitcher Haili Squire.

Brighton 6, Clearfield 5: The Clearfield Falcons fell 6-5 to the Brighton Bengals in both teams' season opener on Tuesday. The Falcons scored all of their runs in the third inning, and held a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, before the Bengals rallied to win. Clearfield out-hit the Bengals, seven to five.

Baseball

Clearfield 7, Juan Diego 4: The Clearfield Falcons opened the season with a 7-4 win over the Juan Diego Soaring Eagles on Monday. Shane Meehan and Mike Pendergest both had three hits and drove in two runs in the nonregion win. Clearfield managed 13 hits while Juan Diego had just four hits.

Layton 6, Copper Hills 4: The Layton Lancers opened the season with a 6-4 win over the Copper Hills Grizzlies on Tuesday. Layton led 6-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, before the Griz-zlies rallied. Brandon Lomax had a double, home run, five RBIs and struck out three batters. Taylor Bearnson picked up the win for the Lancers.



Soccer

Layton 3, Ogden 0: The Layton Lancers opened up the season with a 3-0 shutout win over the Ogden Tigers on Tuesday afternoon. Aaron Mc-Kinley, C.J. Harris and Nyle Ortiz each scored for the Lancers. Tylen Waters and Tyler Smedley combined for the shutout in goal.
