FARMINGTON -- Two Nevada women are behind bars after being arrested on Thursday.

An off-duty Davis County Sheriff's deputy reported a vehicle traveling at only 35 mph on I-15 near Pages Lane about 1:15 a.m.

The women were pulled over by West Bountiful Police and consented to a search of their vehicle. In the car police found a large quantity of loose diamonds and other gems, along with a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

The driver told officers the jewels were hers, but police were suspicious because she has not held down a job for six months. The jewels are now being appraised and investigators are determining where the jewels came from. Investigators believe the women were going to use the jewels to trade for meth.
