NORTH SALT LAKE -- North Salt Lake city officials are looking to gauge public opinion on a name change for their city in a random sampling via the phone Sept. 8-16. Other city issues will also be included in the questions asked during the telephone poll. The Insight Research Corporation will be the group collecting the random sample. They will call around 600 residents. The company will separate feedback from the businesses and residents, said Collin Wood, North Salt Lake City Manager. The poll will cost between $5,000 and $6,000 to be done. Ray Briscoe, with the Insight group, was scheduled to attend last week's council meeting to discuss the opinion poll but was unable to make it. Briscoe will answer questions during the Aug. 22 council meeting.
Besides the random sampling via the telephone, the city has not requested additional public input.
"We want this thing as randomly sampled as possible," said Wood.
