While recreation basketball has kept many involved in recreational sports over the winter, the real season is about to begin for many weekend warriors. The adult softball leagues are about to kick off, but weather has been holding things up a bit. The largest opening season tournament in the county was scheduled for this past weekend in Kaysville, but was washed out by an April snowstorm. It has been re-scheduled for the weekend of April 21. The dark clouds haven't been able to keep teams down though, as many have already been competing in tournaments in Mesquite and Southern Utah.
The elite teams in the county often play on two different week nights while travelling to play in tournaments almost every weekend.
All totalled, some play in as many games (162) as a typical major leaguer during the season.
The Clipper will be giving extensive coverage to this year's softball seasons in the Bountiful and Kaysville recreation leagues.
Seasons get underway at the end of the month, so if you don't have your team together yet, get them rounded up and get ready for a fun summer.
