I read in the Clipper that Centerville's mayor thinks that this is a good time to re-vote on the RAP tax this coming year. Why? Should we just keep putting it on the ballot until the proponents of another tax are successful? We just paid our property taxes and felt the impact of our bond for the recreation center. The county is asking permission to raise its portion of our property taxes by 37 percent. Why would this be a good time to raise taxes again? Once we vote to raise a tax, it never goes back down. If we need a new theater complex, let us save up and budget for it, not raise another tax increment that will never go back down again.
