BOUNTIFUL -- The Main Street Merchants Association and Bountiful/Davis Art Center have partnered to present the second annual StreetFest on Aug. 11. StreetFest will feature food, a sidewalk sale, live music, and local artists who will be creating works of art along the sidewalks of Main Street.
StreetFest is the prelude activity for Bountiful SummerFest International Aug. 12-14 at Bountiful City Park, 200 W. 400 North, Bountiful.
Artists scheduled to create art along Main Street are: Steve Sheffield, Anne Marie Oborn, Rob Adamson, Susan Gallacher, Arlo Johnson, Barbara Dowdle, Stan Elmer, Colleen Parker, Rebecca Lee, Rose Brontmire, Beverly Mangum, Micahl Onyon, David Koch, Byron Johnson, Sherry Meidell, Jan Boardman, Yevgeniy Zolotsev, Larry Wade and Lester B. Lee.
The artists will each donate a work of art to be auctioned at Bountiful SummerFest International.
"We have more artists participating this year in StreetFest, " said Emma Dugal, coordinator for SummerFest. "We expect them to stir up lots of interest as people watch art being created before their eyes."
In addition to watching artists create their works and shopping at the sidewalk sale by the Main Street Merchants, people will be able to grab a funnel cake, a polish dog or some homemade french fries, listen to live music, and enjoy all StreetFest has to offer.
"It's nice to bring the community together, so people have a nice thing to do in Bountiful," said Janet Wortley, of the Main Street Merchants Association and co-owner of Me and My House and Carr's Stationery. "When we moved back to Bountiful that was my whole goal: to make people aware of and proud of their city. If people support these things (like StreetFest), more things will happen.
"Sidewalk Days is a huge tradition in Bountiful. It has cooled a bit in past years, but working with SummerFest has made it really come together. It should be a party--a festival to bring people together."
Local groups will entertain during the day prior to the popular StreetFest dance with the International SummerFest performers from 7-9 p.m. on Main Street. The public will be able to meet and mingle with the international visitors and maybe learn a step or two.
The StreetFest officially opens the festival with performances to follow at Bountiful City Park, August 12-14.
