BOUNTIFUL -- Just days after reporting that Lamplight Art Gallery would be staying at 163 South Main Street in Bountiful, members of the cooperative's governing board were told it would have to move after all. According to Colleen Parker, co-op vice president, the reversal of fortunes came about as a result of continued business shuffling in that area of Main Street. "Circumstances beyond our control have resulted in our having to move," Parker explained. "We plan to start moving by June 11 and have to be out of the building by the end of the month."

The only question now is where the gallery, and its accompanying art studios and classes, will move to. While Parker and other co-op members are undertaking an extensive search of the area, they're not too proud to ask for help.

"If anyone out there is aware of any available space," she reported, "please contact the gallery at 295-0290."

Not just any space will do, however. While Lamplight might not be able to land a spot as accommodating to its needs as its present location, it still desires something that is both "appropriate and affordable."

"We would like to stay on Main if we could," Parker said.

Though news of their ejection hit Lamplight members like a thunderclap, there has been no sign of panic or despair. News that the Bounti-ful-Davis Art Center will make space available for classes and lessons until Lamplight is relocated, provided some much appreciated breathing room.

"We decided that rather than giving up," said Parker, "we're going to continue on. We just need a new location."
