The park is being built adjacent to the new Centerville Branch library. City and county library officials have worked closely during the planning stages for the now-under-construction library to coordinate both projects.
The park will be built in two phases; the first phase consists of installing the landscaping, such as berms, pathways, trails and trees. The interior of the site will be graded and planted in grass, and the edges will be planted in grass with trees and other landscaping installed. The second phase of the park will consist of developing the proposed improvements such as a pavilion, play court and playground equipment.
The planning staff will recommend approval of the park to the City Council if the city completes the following provisions: the project is approved in two phases, as proposed with the conceptual and final plan submissions, the final bond documents shall be prepared and accepted by the City Engineer with regards to utility, grading, and landscaping im-provements, the signage location is approved as proposed, subject to obtaining a building permit for the sign, the city provide a detailed landscaping plan for the file record and to be approved by the state. Phase 1 will include the landscaping, berming, grading, utility work, pathways improvement, and signage location only. Any other development activity shall require additional approval.
A major change from the original plan was the addition of the signage. The proposed signage will be similar in materials and shape to that in front of the Florentine Villa subdivision. Next step for the park is official approval by the Centerville City Council.
