"In Davis County, motor vehicle crashes are a leading case of death for children," said Lewis Garrett, director of the Davis County Health Department. "Many children are put at risk because they are moved to an adult seat belt too soon." Children should be in booster seats until they are 4 feet 9 inches tall or 80 pounds, according to national safety guidelines, he said.
During the inspections certified technicians will be available to check seats for recalls, proper installations and to ensue the correct seat is being used.
They will also do a seat belt check to see if a child is ready to use the belt alone.
