BOUNTIFUL -- Hilary Groutage, community news editor for the Salt Lake Tribune, will be speaking to the Bountiful Chapter of the League of Utah Writers on Tuesday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. Groutage has worked for the Salt Lake Tribune since 1996. She has at different times covered education, concerts, social service issues, and gardening. She contributed to an award-winning series in 2004 about families living in polygamy on the Utah-Arizona border, and in January 2005 she launched Close-Up, which focuses on community news in eight zoned editions each Friday. She will leave in August to teach English and journalism at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
The Bountiful chapter of the League meets every third Tuesday at the Bountiful Davis Art Center, just south of the library. All are welcome.
'Handcart Days' wants entries
BOUNTIFUL -- The Bountiful Handcart Days Arts and Crafts Committee has issued a call for entries to the annual exhibit, which will be held at the Bountiful/Davis Art Center.
This year's theme is "Handcarts -- A Legacy of 150 years."
Entries for the show will be accepted June 9-10 at BDAC at 745 South Main. Entry forms and rules can be obtained by visiting www.handcartdays.org or by calling Sandy Rast at 292-5686.
