FARMINGTON -- Three students from the Farmington area were chosen recently to travel to Ecuador and spend 10 weeks volunteering in orphanages. Amelia Robertson, Ashley Hustead and Laura Tulane will each be traveling to different parts of Ecuador with others from the Orphanage Support Services Organization. The OSSO is a non-profit humanitarian organization that has been sending volunteers to Ecuador on a regular basis since 1991.
Robertson and Hustead have both had experience babysitting and being nannies. Tulane has experience babysitting and teaching piano lessons. They have all been involved in other humanitarian projects, either within their own community, or for other countries.
The group left May 22, with Robertson going to Quito and Hustead and Tulane going to Cuenca.
