From an early age, Evans knew that he wanted to work with youth and sports in the public education system.
After graduating from BYU, Evans' career as an educator began in 1972,where he worked as a coach and teacher at Kearns Jr. High.
During the early years, Evans' career centered around his love for basketball. He worked at Granite High School as the assistant basketball coach, while still teaching at Kearns. He soon after moved to the Davis School District, where he worked as an assistant coach to Mike Hall at Bountiful High. He later became head coach at Murray High School, where he was named coach of the year.
Years later, Evans returned to the Davis School District and became head coach at Woods Cross. Beyond coaching, Evans taught U.S. history and driver's ed.
Evans spent the second half of his career working in administration. After receiving a master's degree from the University of Utah, Evans worked as an assistant principal at Central Davis Junior High. He then moved to Northridge High, where he has been for the past eleven years.
Evans has loved being an educator and hopes to keep in touch with his students on the golf course.
