The resolution, approved by unanimous vote, also named the city's mayor pro- tem, currently Bonnie Sorenson, as an alternate to the fire agency board.
Martin, however, was not present for the action, having been excused from Tuesday's meeting.
Members of the council expressed their appreciation of the mayor's willingness to take on the task. But, as noted by James Behunin, Martin had been West Bountiful's representative on the South Davis Fire District Board and, as such, was already familiar was the issues of fire and paramedic service.
In what turned out to be a night of appointments, council members also confirmed the appointment of James Ahlstrom to fill a vacancy on the city's planning commission. Ahlstrom, an attorney with a Salt Lake City-based law firm, was nominated by the mayor.
Empty spots also had to be filled on the West Bountiful Historical Committee. Nominees Brenda Johnson, Anita Winegar and Mark Staker were ratified by unanimous vote.
Also introduced to council members by West Bountiful Police Chief Mike Wright was a new member of the department, Officer Jim Linton.
