"We have a different type of homeless population here," said Ken Adamson, Homeless Program Coordinator. "They aren't living on the street in cardboard boxes. We don't have a homeless shelter here. Most of our homeless population in the county is living in cars or travel trailers, camping in the foothills, or living off friends in over-crowded apartments or houses."
The organization hopes to find these individuals and families as well as those who are within seven days of being evicted from their housing, or who are currently living with family members for interim stays.
Family Connection Center provides transitional housing, single mom housing, and an emergency shelter program utilizing motel vouchers. It also runs the Family Connection Food Bank in Layton.
The purpose of the census is two-fold: to find the people who need the services and to document the types of needs in the community in order to secure federal funds to continue much needed services.
