FARMINGTON -- Orlando M. Hill, accused of detaining a man in North Ogden while another man kept SWAT team members at bay, was sentenced to 18 months probation. Hill, 27, Ogden, pleaded guilty on Nov. 7 to a class A misdemeanor obstruction of justice charge in the case, in which police said Hill and co-defendant Precious L. Thomas, 25, Layton, detained the man last July because he owed money to Ryan Deon Richardson, 27, Ogden.

Thomas pleaded guilty on Nov. 14 to a class A misdemeanor obstruction of justice. She was also sentenced to 18 months probation. Hill and Thomas were originally charged with first-degree kidnapping, but it was reduced because prosecutors said there were problems with the case.

Crist pleads not guilty to kidnapping

FARMINGTON -- Damon Victor Crist pleaded innocent last week to three kidnapping charges.

Crist, 22, Centerville, who made headlines last July for allegedly attempting to kidnap three teens by luring them into his vehicle and later allegedly tried to kidnap a 12-year-old West Haven girl, was charged with one count of first-degree attempted kidnapping and two counts of third-degree attempted kidnapping in connection with the July 26 incident.

The girl said she was able to fight her way out of his vehicle.

A three-day trial has been set in January.

A hearing has been set in Weber County on the charges connected with the girl in West Haven, and what is determined in that hearing will affect future court hearings in Davis County.

Another hearing is set in Davis County for Jan. 12.
