BOUNTIFUL -- Kelsey Clark was recently announced as the winner of the South Davis Chapter, Sons of Utah, annual Essay Contest for fourth grade students.
Clark, a student at Woods Cross Elementary School, received a check for $300 and a 12-inch plaque from the organization for her essay at a SUP meeting May 25.
About 202 students from nine schools participated in the essay writing competition and each received a Letter of Commendation. Certificates of Achievement were also awarded to the first- and second- place winners from each class, and a seven-inch bronze plaque and $30 was awarded to the top winner at each school.
The SouthDavis Chapter of SUP is appreciative of the teachers at the schools who encourage the students to do research and write essays about their pioneer ancestors or important events in Utah's colorful history.
