Raising the minimum wage sounds like a great idea. Helping out the lower class and making yourself feel good for helping out someone less fortunate. What the simplistic beauty of this solution to poverty lacks is depth and common sense. Congress is planning on raising the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour. What this would mean to you, if you could put yourself in the shoes of a small business owner, is that you would either have to raise your prices to accommodate higher wages for your employees or lay off a part of your work force. Result? Inflation and unemployment. It just doesn't make sense.
