BOUNTIFUL -- The Bountiful/Davis Art Center is proud to present "An Evening with William L. Maughan, Illustrator" on Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. Maughan is the Director of Graduate Fine Art Painting and Illustration at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. He has held this position since 1998, but has worked as a teacher since 1973.

Early in his career, Maughan worked in New York City with great illustrators like Mark English and Bernie Fuchs, with whom he has remained friends throughout the years.

Maughan has written a book, The Artists' Complete Guide to Drawing the Head, which has been used as a textbook in several art schools.

During BDAC's event, Maughan will discuss many aspects of contemporary illustration, including comparisons of fine art and commercial illustration, as he has been very involved in both disciplines.

Maughan's exhibit runs through Feb. 9. During this time, some of Utah's most well-known illustrators will also be exhibited, such as Bethanne Anderson, Robert Barrett, Rob Colvin, Richard Hull, Steve Kropp, Paul Mann, Robert McKay, Sherry Meidell, Greg Newbold, Anne Marie Oborn, Mark Robison, Randall Royter, Scott Snow and Jerry Thompson.
