DAVIS COUNTY -- Utahns for Public Schools (UTPS) recently launched a new television ad featuring award-winning Utah teachers as part of an outreach effort to inform voters why they should vote against the voucher law Nov. 6.

The ad, titled "Everyday Families," focuses on the importance of investing in public schools and possible flaws in Referendum 1, the private school voucher law.

The ad features 2006 Utah Teacher of the Year Joan Heap and Trish Morrison, Educator of the Month from Sandy, who make the point that "most of our students come from everyday families who can't afford to pay the difference in cost, even if they wanted to try private school vouchers."
