Viewmont trailed Brighton at halftime 32-18 and fell further behind midway through the third quarter. The Vikes went on a run to get within three points as time wound down and the Bengals nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to push the lead to six points.In the final stanza the Bengals put Viewmont away with a 23-11 run.
"I'm real proud of these guys," Emery said. "They kept battling."
"Brighton is a very athletic team and play a very fast, up-tempo game. We did a great job for most of the game staying with them."
In reality, Viewmont remained within striking distance but was forced to foul, putting Brighton at the free throw line where they connected on their shots.
"They did a good job at the foul line when we started fouling at the end of the game," Emery said.
Tommy Barrett led the Vikings with 20 points, while Davis Emery had 18. Michael Evans picked up seven including an important three-pointer. Chase Christensen had three points and Kyle DeHart and Spencer Jensen picked up two each.
"We had a good run this year," Emery said. "I'm real proud of these guys."
