FARMINGTON -- A man was taken into custody late Monday in Murray after leading police on a chase across two counties, much of it while he was driving on three tire rims.

Jacob Alan Proctor, 23, Salt Lake City, was stopped just after 10 p.m. Monday on southbound I-15 in the rest area north of Farmington.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Steven Crow pulled Proctor over on a traffic violation and found he had been suspended for prior DUI offenses and was required to have an ignition interlock device, but he did not have one. Crow said Proctor was an alcohol-restricted driver and had more than $13,000 in active warrants, including one for DUI.

As Crow attempted to have Proctor get out of his vehicle, he drove away at high speed. Crow and other troopers gave chase. A Davis County sheriff's deputy spiked three of the four tires on Proctor's car on I-15 in West Bountiful.

Proctor drove his disabled vehicle to the I-215 off-ramp from I-15, south of 5300 South where it broke down.

Proctor was then taken into custody. He was booked into the Davis County Jail on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges.
