Kaysville Independence Day events slated

KAYSVILLE -- From the heart-warming and patriotic to the "wild" water parade, there's lots in store as Kaysville and Fruit Heights plan for their upcoming Independence Day activities.
As always, the volunteer Kaysville-Fruit Heights Civic Association is assembling the full cadre of events, which kick off Sunday, June 27 with the Patriotic Devotional at 7 p.m. It will be held in the Davis High School Auditorium and is free.
The annual community play this year features the well-known"Annie." It will be performed nightly, June 30-July 3 at 7 p.m. with a Saturday, July 3 matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets are $3.50 for children, $5 for adults and $20 per family, up to six people. A carnival will add to the fun and runs Thursday, July 1, 5-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday, noon-11 p.m. As with many events, it will be at the Davis Applied Technology College, southwest area. Discount tickets are available at the Kaysville city hall. Until June 30, prices are $12 a card, which can be exchanged for 30 tickets. For more information call Jeff Dunford at 544-5848.
A new feature this year is Pasta on the Plaza, west side of DATC campus. Dinner is $5 with a "Battle of the Bands" by Eagle 101.5 to feature entertainment.
The lion's share of events take place Saturday, July 3. Things start off with breakfast, 6:30-10:45 a.m., on the west side of the DATC. Cost is $5 a person, $20 a family up to six people. More grills have been added to speed the line, officials emphasize.
A 5K Run/Walk and 10KRun are 7:30-10 a.m. at the DHSfootball stadium.
Fee is $15 if registered by June 29, $30 after. Registration forms are available at Barnes Bank or online at www.kaysvilleclinic.com. For more information call Layne at 447-0909.
The parade kicks off at 11 to the theme, "Celebrate America and the World."Route is from DATC to Main, north along Main to 100 North. The water section is on Main. Spectators are asked to please not bring any water balloons, for either the wet or dry area. Entry fee is $6. For more information call Sally Taylor at 544-5624.

Other Saturday events include a3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, noon and ongoing until finalists prevail at the DATC northwest side. Call 544-5848 for more information or e-mail ggordon@datc.net.
AMulticultural Festival runs noon-9 p.m. at the DATC southwest area, including food, entertainment and art representing many and varied countries.
Dinner choices will be American, Mexican and other Latino foods, Japanese, Korean, Hawaiian, Samoan, and Tongan Luau, 5-9 p.m. For more information call Jeff at 544-5848.
As always, fireworks will cap the celebration at 10 p.m. choreographed to music. They will be staged from the DATC.
