Though both Utah and U.S. residency are required, entrants that are married, divorced, widowed or single are welcome to take part in the event. Prizes, which range from $2,000 to $5,000, can be won for the charity of the contestant's choice.
This year's winner will also be sent to Atlantic City, N.J., this October to participate in the National Ms. Senior America Pageant. First, however, will be Utah's pageant, which is scheduled for July 19 at the Capitol Theater in Salt Lake City. Along with the talents performed by the pageant participants, there will be a special dance number by Jean's Golden Girls and a song by 2004 National Queen Michelle Rahn.
"This is a great opportunity for participants to bring their families and enjoy a day of fun," said Jones.
Ms. Senior America is a service-focused organization. The Cameo Club, a group made up of current and former pageant contestants, travels around the country to entertain at hospitals, nursing homes, senior centers and schools.
