CENTERVILLE -- A loss of hoped-for funding may keep Parrish Lane congested for a little while longer.

Though the Parrish Lane overpass is currently being widened in conjunction with Legacy, the road will continue to bottleneck until the railroad bridge is widened as well.

Since the project hasn't been included on this year's STIP funding list, however, the project will either have to find outside funding or wait until 2008.

"UDOT Region 1 director Cory Pope is optimistic that we'll find funding, but we won't know until the end of this month," said Centerville City Manager Steve Thacker.

In e-mails to Centerville City Council member Justin Allen, Pope said UDOT is aware of the $8 million dollar project's importance, and though it wasn't added to the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) funding is being considered from a different source.

"We are still planning on having it in construction late summer or early fall 2007, but we may have to wait for new STIP funding in October," said People in the e-mails. "Either way, we should have it done before Legacy opens."
