FRUIT HEIGHTS -- A Layton man was airlifted to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden after the pickup he was driving collided with a UTA bus on Tuesday afternoon.

Jacob Bret Hatch, 22, was partially ejected from the pickup after his truck collided with the bus, and then another vehicle on Highway 89 at 400 North here.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Jarod Babcock said the investigation is ongoing in the accident that occurred at 3:44 p.m., bringing the evening commute on the road to a near standstill.

Babcock said the bus was in the southbound turn lane on Highway 89. The pickup was northbound in the fast lane. As the bus, driven by Charles Paul Poulsen, 63, of Uinta, was turning left, it collided with the left front of the pickup. The truck then traveled west and collided with a car driven by Abbie Christine Tero, 25, of Orem. Her vehicle was on westbound 400 North.

Hatch was taken by Lifeflight to the Ogden hospital with head injuries. Tero and Poulsen were also taken to McKay-Dee by ambulance; Tero with seat belt and air bag burns, Poulsen with a leg injury. Two bus passengers were also taken to area hospitals with minor injuries.
