While shopping in Davis County is certainly good for Davis County businesses, county residents also benefit, as the chamber makes clear in the following resolution, adopted by its Board of Directors April 14.

Whereas, one of the missions of the Davis Chamber of Commerce is to sustain a vibrant economy: and
Whereas, Davis County is experiencing a rapid increase in population that will continue to increase in the future and will perpetuate the need to create infrastructure and services to serve the increased population; and
Whereas, Davis County business owners have invested in our community, taking a risk to provide services, and economic goods, to increase the comfort and options of the residents within our communities, and also have provided jobs and income for the county's residents; and
Whereas, local governments receive nearly one-percent of sales tax from business conducted within their cities, also other taxes (e.g. tourism tax, gasoline tax, etc.) help to build and maintain the communities where goods and service are purchased; and
Whereas, nearly 50 percent of the working population of Davis County leaves the county to go to work each day, understanding that as Davis County grows and supplies residential living to our citizens that an increased burden is placed upon our communities without proper economic business income; and
Whereas, sales tax revenue allows communities the opportunity to balance their budgets for services such as water, sewer, trash removal, parks, etc. by keeping property taxes low. Without sales tax revenues, property taxes would have to increase; doing business in Davis County, makes our communities a better place to live and work; and
Whereas, citizens, businesses, educational institutions and government entities can help to build, beautify and keep property taxes low within our communities by shopping, purchasing, contracting and buying from Davis County businesses; and
Whereas, the Davis Chamber of Commerce and its members are committed to finding the products and services that are needed within Davis County, by offering resources and lists of services, producers, retailers and manufacturers of businesses that support Davis County.
Now, Therefore Be It Resolved that the Davis Chamber of Commerce encourages citizens, businesses, educational institutions and government entities to shop, contract with, and buy from Davis County businesses. Encourage spouses, employees, and associates to drive five more minutes and purchase gasoline in Davis County; look in your local stores for the products that can be purchased in Davis County. Research the wonderful educational and entertainment opportunities in Davis County.
