In a letter to Bountiful City, I read the objections of the Taxpayers Association to the new rec center. Their objections were mostly based on using city dollars for this center versus private funding.
I have yet to see private organizations put up the funds to teach up to 300 small children per day about swimming and water safety. We see no private organization put up the funds for junior high and high school hockey facilities or affordable figure skating facilities.
No private funding to pay the salaries of approximately 150 high school and college boys and girls who teach the children how to swim. To me their rationale is sadly misplaced. Vote for the new recreation center.
