Vikings maul Warriors 30-7

DAVIS COUNTY -- Viewmont defeated Weber 30-7, and in doing so earned the right to play Layton again this evening to see who goes to the 5A state playoffs.

The Vikings led 14-7 at the half, and kicker Trevor Heiner took over in the second half. The Viking booter kicked three field goals (49, 31, 33 yards) to loft Viewmont to victory. The Viking defense held Weber scoreless in the second half. The Viewmont/Layton game will be played this evening at 5 p.m. at Layton High School, with the winner earning the right to play Brighton in the state playoffs on Friday.



Davis handles Clearfield

The Clearfield Falcons fell to the Davis Darts 27-16 last Friday night.

The Falcons failed to score an offensive touchdown on the night. Matt Francom scored on a 99-yard kickoff return and Brock Thornley returned a fumble 67 yards for a touchdown. Travis Sisneros kicked a 22-yard field goal for the Falcons. Davis earned at least a share of the region title with the win.
