It is the highest award presented by the Davis Chamber and its board of directors in recognition of service and leadership in the community.
The award is presented to a “profound leader or organization in the community that has provided extraordinary service to the community, state, and/or nation in behalf of Davis County,” said Chamber CEO Jim Smith.
The base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbird II, Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, along with depot maintenance for many aircraft.
The base has been key in the economic development of the area, particularly as it relates to the aerospace industry, he said.
“Hill AFB is a huge part of the economic engine here and it’s a great time to recognize them as they are finishing the end of their 70th anniversary,” said Davis Chamber Chair Jed Stevenson.
The award will be presented at the chamber’s annual awards banquet set for Friday, Jan. 20 at the Davis Conference Center.
“They have been great neighbors for seven decades and have become part of the fabric of life here in Davis County,” Smith said.
Other awards to be presented include business of the year, innovation award, employer of the year, entrepreneurial spirit award, and small business of the year.
