The Viewmont Vikings caught a big break in their attempt at clinching the final playoff spot in Region 1 Tuesday as Clearfield laid an egg against the worst team in the region, Weber, losing 44-41. Although the Vikes lost as well on Tuesday to Northridge, they still have a one-game lead over the Falcons heading into their game Friday night in Clearfield. If the Vikings win that game they will clinch the fourth seed in Region 1. If they lose, they'll still have a shot at making the playoffs as they finish the season at home against Davis, and Clearfield plays host to Fremont.
Girls seeds look set
Region 1 will be tough to handle in the playoffs, as Layton and Clearfield, two of the state's top teams will most likely finish tied for the region title, and Fremont and Davis will likely be tied for third place.
Because of tie-breakers Layton would take the top seed, with Fremont finishing third. Davis will be the best four-seed in the tournament.
