FARMINGTON — An 81-year-old man was sentenced to serve three years to life in the Utah State Prison on each of three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child.
During the sentencing Thursday, 2nd District Judge Robert J. Dale gave Lionel Milo Nance of Syracuse time for credit served in the Davis County Jail and said Nance could serve the sentences currently.
Nance was arrested in August of 2011 by Syracuse Police after three victims came forward saying he molested them.
He pleaded guilty on Dec. 8.
Nance’s attorney, Ryan Bushell asked the judge to sentence his client to three-years probation, which would have included confinement to home. He told the judge that if his client is sentenced to prison he will die there.
Nance suffers from a number of medical problems and appeared in court in a wheelchair. However, Deputy Davis County Attorney Christina Ortega said Nance’s medical issues shouldn’t be a concern in the sentencing. Instead, the main concern should be the amount of time Nance had been abusing children, and the number of his victims.
