Last Friday they continued towards that strong finish as they pushed past Highland 54-42 to take over second place in the region.
The Lady Wildcats strong effort was led by Natalie Parsons’ 26 points and Emily Howey’s 13 points with 14 rebounds.
Howey will likely finish her career averaging a double-double in her last two seasons as part of the Lady Wildcats.
Elsewhere, the Lady Vikings slipped to first-place Taylorsville 60-49 to fall to a fourth-place tie with Granger, possibly setting up another play-in situation before the 5A girls basketball tournament begins.
Tuesday night results were not revealed to the Clipper as of press time, but a Viewmont win and Granger loss to Hunter will give the Lady Vikings the final playoff spot from Region 2.
At Davis High Friday, the Lady Darts took another loss in region play, falling to Layton 48-27. As of press time, the Lady Darts were scheduled to play Fremont. A win could force a play-in game against the same team for the final spot from Region 1 heading to the girls’ state 5A basketball playoffs.
Also on Friday, the Lady Braves’ loss to first-place Cyprus gave the Lady Pirates the Region 6 title, while also seeing the Lady Braves slip below Woods Cross for the No. 2 seed from Region 6.
The only remaining matchup for Woods Cross and Bountiful was against each other Tuesday night. Both will be in the state 4A playoffs regardless of the outcome, but could be seeded differently if the Lady Braves beat Woods Cross.
Scores were not available as of press time.
