FARMINGTON — The first of three men charged in connection with the theft of a safe containing money and other valuables from a West Bountiful man’s home was sentenced Tuesday in 2nd District Court.

Steven Kent Hogge, 41, of Murray, will serve six months in the Davis County Jail, followed by three years probation. He will also pay a $1,000 fine.

Hogge pleaded guilty in December to third-degree felony attempted burglary for the September theft.

The safe was stolen from Gary Turley, who kept $200,000, a coin collection, passports, birth certificates and other valuables in it.

Hogge had been charged with two second-degree felonies of burglary and theft, but a plea deal reduced the charges.

Joshua Cameron Watts, 19, a brother-in-law of Turley’s daughter, will be sentenced March 20 after pleading guilty last week.

A third defendant, Wayne Jerry Clark, 24, a cousin of Watts will be in court next week on charges of second-degree felony theft and second-degree felony burglary.
