Legacy Preparatory Academy will be holding a fundraising concert and family event on March 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the school’s secondary campus, located at 2214 S. 1250 W. in Woods Cross. The event, which will include performances from several of the school’s musical groups, will raise money for Legacy students to participate in the upcoming Heritage Festival in California.
“When the students work toward a huge common goal like competing in an out-of-state festival, it brings them together musically, as well as socially,” said Paul Dewey, who leads six of the groups that will be performing at the event.
The evening will feature performances from the school’s elementary choir, Madrigals, all orchestra groups, wind ensemble, jazz band, Legacy Lions and concert band.
“(The students) tend to perform better when they have sacrificed so much to get there,” said Dewey, specifying that all of the groups have been invited to the festival. “It also keeps them motivated about being in school performing groups.”
In addition to the music, the evening will also include dinner, face painting, a bake sale and silent auction
There will also be a musical bingo game that costs $1 per card, with the top prize being an iPod Shuffle. The game, as well as dinner and the rest of the evening, is being sponsored by Chick-fil-A.
Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door, with dinner included in the price of the ticket. A family pass (for up to six people) is available for $35, and along with the other tickets can be purchased at Legacy’s secondary campus.
Proceeds will go toward funding the students’ participation in the Heritage Festival.
