DAVIS COUNTY — Being “fiscally fit,” includes being “savvy savers,” according to employees of Zions Bank, who fanned out through Davis County schools to emphasize to students the importance of saving money.

Twenty-four bankers visited 16 elementary schools and six middle schools in Davis County to help 1,567 students understand the ABCs of money, according to Heidi Prokop, communications manager at the bank.

The training was held in conjunction with National Teach Children to Save Day, now in its 16th year.

“We’re proud to help support what local schools are already doing to promote financial literacy,” said Anne Reece, Zions Bank commercial relationship manager, who taught the course at Crestview Elementary.

She said the training will help kids “grow up to succeed when it comes to budgeting and saving money.”
