1931-2012



Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, Stanley Dee Madsen passed away peacefully at home May 7, 2012. Stan was born March 31, 1931, the eldest son of Niels Halvor Miller Madsen and Sarah Lavon Ellis. Always inquisitive, his curiosity led to many hobbies and talents, including employment at IBM and Univac, locksmithing, and woodworking. Stan loved music. He played clarinet/oboe and enjoyed singing tenor in a quartet with his three brothers. He learned the value of hard work at the family business, Madsen Cleaning Co. Stan was called to serve an LDS mission to his father’s homeland of Denmark. Uncle Sam had other ideas. However, he served three stake missions during his time in the Air Force as a gunnery instructor on B-29’s. On June 1, 1956 he married his sweetheart, Anne Puckett Hiatt, in the Salt Lake Temple. His tender heart made him the perfect father for their three daughters as well as a foster daughter. Stan was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and held many positions within the Church. He had a positive outlook, made friends easily, and never forgot a name or face. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dean Jay Madsen and Richard Ellis Madsen. He leaves behind his dear soul mate, Anne, who cared for him day and night for the last six years; daughters Shirleen (Ernesto) Gamonal, Terri (Wesley) Johnson, Yvette (Neil) Wagstaff and foster daughter Rosita Padilla; brother Raymond (Deann) Madsen; sisters-in-law Marilyn Madsen and Velma Madsen; as well as his eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the West Bountiful 8th ward, 311 North 800 West, West Bountiful and Friday morning 10 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral service held Friday, May 11, 2012, 11 a.m. Interment: Lakeview Cemetery.
