DAVIS COUNTY—Both the Woods Cross Wildcats and Bountiful Braves baseball teams were in a position to take the Region 6 baseball title with wins, along with losses by the other team.

However, both the Wildcats and Braves each won their respective games against Cyprus and Highland respectively, and will have to settle with a share of the Region 6 title.

Woods Cross’ 4-1 win over Cyprus saw the Wildcats get out to a three-run lead after scoring three runs in the top of the third inning. Cyprus closed the gap with a single run in the fourth, but the Wildcats added another run in the seventh to close out the win. Quentin Foutz picked up the win on the mound, going all seven innings while striking out nine hitters.

Bountiful’s 17-1 win over Highland only took the Braves five innings to complete, scoring at least two runs in every inning on their way to the easy victory. Tommy Lalli picked up the win by allowing one run on three hits on the mound. Offensively the Braves scored their 17 runs on 14 hits with Cam Zollinger hitting a pair of doubles to spark the offense. Jase Benard and Masen Jones also hit doubles for the Braves.

Between the two rivals, Woods Cross took the three game series 2-1. The Wildcats were outscored by Bountiful in the series 16-15. Seedings were not available by the UHSAA as of print of this story, however, 4A baseball playoff seeding’s will be listed as soon as they become available.
